Design in Details

According to the Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos State Governor) in July, 2020, He stated that the level of food sufficiency in Lagos state stands at about 20% leaving a deficit of about 80%, which is mostly accounted for by supplies from other states.

The goal of the Lagos State government to achieve a 100% increase in food sufficiency by 2023 gave rise to the Songhai Lagos Initiative Centre, Avia-Igborosun, Badagry. This facilitated the development of warehouses to support that vision.

The Dry Storage Warehouse is a 1470 sq.m steel framed structure among other facilities in the Centre designed for long term dry storage of paddy. The 9.6m high facility incorporates a large paddy Storage space, office spaces and other ancillary spaces. To keep humidity within the storage space at tolerable levels, tornado vents were introduced at the roof with roof lights, luxalon grills at the side walls and the use of epoxyl finish on the floor and walls.
